Finally finished my Photography course and a diploma is well on it’s way!
After recently becoming unemployed I’m going to try and venture more towards photography or perhaps try and do both.

Had to try and copy a photo that someone famous took or a stock photo. I wanted to do Ansel Adams but living in Australia and traveling were out of the question. So I resorted to a stock photo of tomatoes. Not to bad I don’t reckon. I was graded a 9 out of 10 for this assignment.

A nighttime visitor getting out of the rain. Sat him on a white ceramic serving dish. These are small because they are currently up on my stock site.
I’m absolutely loving this course. I’m learning so much about everything involved with photography so I thought I’d share a few assignment shots and some not-so-much-assignments-but-practicing shots. I really dreaded doing portraits but faired pretty well. I got an inspiring and ego-boosting comment from my tutor about the portraits… but I don’t’ reckon I’ll do much of them. I think I want to stick to product photography, landscaping and such. Directing people is just not my cuppa Tea. Oh well….
On with the photos. My two teen subjects this day were Zac, 14 and Dana, 15. My partners daughter and her boyfriend. I thought Zac was quite photogenic.
I decided that it was time to take a photography course. So I enrolled in an online course called The Photography Institute. They are based out of New South Wales. There are 12 Modules (Assignments) ranging from written to actually taking photographs. I am taught by a “tutor” rather than a teacher or instructor and each Tutor is a world renowned working photographer. My tutor is Steven Vote.
I’ve already completed 2 Assignments and working on my 3rd. I’m at a stand-still though because I had to order a Grey Card for this assignment. I can honestly say, I am learning so much already! I’m loving it! There’s also a group on Facebook for students of this course to talk about assignments, post their questions and/or photos for critiquing It’s great. At the end you graduate and get a diploma. Sweets!
Cheers mates!
